Puppy collars are the most important piece of jewelry you can buy your dog: she will be wearing it for most of her life.

The good news is that these collars for puppies come in a variety of styles and, no matter what your taste, it’s fairly easy to find a collar for your little dog that you love.

After a lot of searching, checking, and shopping, I’ve found that different online dog stores have different strengths. What I mean by that is that certain online dog stores will sell a particular type of puppy collar that are better than most of the other stores out there, but then another store does a better job/has a better selection of another type of puppy collar.

Puppy collars are perfect for the smaller dog breeds like chihuahuas, yorkies, pugs, and the other cute little dog breeds running around out there. These dogs are essentially perpetual puppies, remaining small for life, and so puppy collars are idea for them, as well. I think pink dog clothes have got to be the most fashionable, diva-esque chihuahua clothes you’ll ever come across. Especially if you’ve ever seen the movie or the Broadway play “Legally Blonde,” you’ll know that dressing your chihuahua in pink toy dog clothes is like a super shortcut to making you chihuahuas into the supreme fashion diva with an attitude on your block. Almost nothing can compare to pink dog clothing in creating that pampered pooch air for your doggie, and if you’re into the whole Beverly Hills Chihuahua lifestyle, these pink chihuahua dog clothes and outfits we carry at the Chihuahua Shop fit the bill perfectly for this!

Don’t get me wrong: small dog clothes are freaking adorable and they can take most little chihuahuas and make them look famously adorable. But when you make them pink chihuahua dog clothes, nothing can really compete with them in the power of that “I’m the new fashion BITCH on the block… BITCH! I know that sounds ludicrous, but I’m telling you: you bring out a pair blue dog clothes and a pair of dog clothes that are pink and these chihuahuas walk up to the pink ones 100% of the time!

Toy Dog Clothing for Chihuahuas

Ever since I first adopted my chihuahuas a few years back, I’ve had a soft spot for toy dog clothing and the chihuahua clothes I love to dress up my little doggies with. For me, small dog clothing is my favorite way of really externalizing my chihuahua’s personality for others to see and “get” immediately, and to just have my own fun with dressing her up and living in a bit of a chihuahua fantasy land! But recently, I ran into a situation at puppy training class with a new chihuahua rescue I’m fostering right now where toy dog clothes were actually getting in the way!

So this chihuahua rescue I took in a few weeks ago, he has a lot of potential to be a chihuahua superstar: he’s very attentive, he’s super obedient, and he loves wearing his toy dog outfits. So I enlisted him in puppy training classes and have been taking him three times per week to his classes with him dressed up in his chihuahua clothing.

The problem is not with my chihuahua pup or any of the other dogs: they’re all super friendly and they get along famously. This bizarre problem has to do with the other dog owners and my little chihuahua doggie’s toy dog fashion that I dress him in: his toy dog clothing is drawing too much attention from the other owners in the class and they’re actually getting distracted from the exercises we’re supposed to be doing and it’s interfering with the entire class. It’s insanity!

I go to these dog training classes with my chihuahua dressed up in his toy doggie clothing, and I almost feel like I’m trapped in a zombie movie or something with all of these people coming after me and my dog who simply can’t control themselves and keep from coming after us to touch him and talk to me! It’s insanity! Combining this little chihuahua with his tiny chihuahua dog clothes is proving to be too much for these other owners to handle! They see my little Winston in his cool toy dog apparel and it’s like gravity pulling them away from their training exercises with their own dog: they have to come over and talk to me and comment on how cute my chihuahua is in his toy dog clothing and how he reminds them of this other dog they once had, and this and that… it’s madness, I say.

I like to use chihuahua dog clothing to help dogs and people, not interfere with them, so for the last two classes, I’ve actually left my little chihuahua pup’s toy dog costumes and small dog coats off, in the car, just so that he isn’t quite as much of a draw. It’s been helping, as the other owners are doing a better job of concentrating on their work, but now my little Winston isn’t getting his training while wearing his small dog coats and his little dog clothing, which isn’t ideal because I want that association to be there. Perhaps I’ll have to dress him back up in his toy dog clothing after a few more sessions and see if the other owners can behave themselves.

I’m almost hesitant to do this because I know that whenever you dress up a chihuahua in clothing for toy dogs, it’s like giving the world an invitation to come over and touch your dog and squeal with delight and remark over how cute your doggie is! And then I have to almost get into that “alright bitch, back the f!*# away from my dog!”-mode just to stop all the commotion and continue with what I was wanting to do. I don’t like having to go there, but sometimes duty calls, you know?

Chihuahua Dog Clothes

As someone who loves chihuahua dog clothes, I get fairly excited over almost any opportunity to dress my chihuahua dog, Namaste, up in her chihuahua dog clothes, and so when my neighbor calls me up and asks if Namaste can come over for a chihuahua play date with her doggies, I freaking jump at the chance! I grab a few of her dog clothes for chihuahua outfits, my laptop, and we’re off out the door to the neighbor’s house so our chihuahuas can play together while we visit and do some work in the same space.

A few years ago, if someone told me I’d be taking my chihuahua to go to a chihuahua dog clothing play date, I would have told them they were on crack. Nothing could have been further from my mind. But after inadvertently adopting a few chihuahuas and spending some time with them, I’ve become big softy for these little dogs and their small dog clothes, and the entire chihuahua dog fashion scene!

So anyway, this past time I took Namaste over to her chihuahua dog friend’s house to play, I dressed her up in her favorite toy dog clothes, and off she went to play while I had coffee with the other chihuahua’s owner: my friend. We got to talking about chihuahua dog clothes while our chihuahuas were there, in front of us, wearing their chihuahua clothing, and I started to wonder if we would go blind or something from doing this 😉 Luckily for us, the answer was no, and it’s a good thing because once two chihuahua dog fashion fanatics get into a conversation about small dog clothes, it takes an eternity or, in this case, the threat of some sort of natural disaster, to bring an end to that conversation.

And I kid you not: that is what it came to. I was working on my laptop while my friend was working on hers at the same table, and our chihuahua dogs were off playing together, dressed in their chihuahua dog clothing, when the tropical storm that had just been upgraded to hurricane status rolled into town with a furry, and the windows and everything started to really shake like crazy with the intense wind gust blasting against them. With all the commotion, our little pets in their dog clothes for chihuahuas started to FREAK out a bit and were coming up to us and looking at us for direction, with that “what should I do?”-look.

So, of course, being the chihuahua puppy clothes freaks that we are, we broke out their chihuahua dog thunder jackets and put them on them. I’m not sure if these chihuahua clothes actually have any magical powers anything strange like that or if it’s just some kind of placebo effect it has on our chihuahuas’ mind, but these outfits really do help our little dogs to stay more calm when the weather turns downright hostile outside. And so for them, their chihuahua doggie clothes inspired play date could continue, and they went back off into the living room to roughhouse and play and wrestle and rip around in their chihuahua clothing, having their chihuahua fun.

Doggie Boutique for Chihuahuas

When you own chihuahuas and you enjoy dressing them up in chihuahua clothes, you tend to visit a lot of doggie boutique shops. What I’ve been noticing lately is that these dog boutiques area really focusing on the banal and boring segment of dog supplies and would do so much better, I think, if they focused on selling the fun goods that people seem to love buying at the Chihuahua Shop and a few of the other chihuahua clothing store business I’ve been keeping tabs on.

I mean, I walk into these doggy boutique shops and what do I see? I see a miniature version of a major pet store: dog food, hair brushes, leashes and leads to fit every breed known to man, and even huge dog houses for bigger dogs. They have no focus. These doggie boutiques are trying to cater to everyone and, in doing so, they’re catering to no one. I walk into these dog clothing shops that, from their name and advertising on the outside of their store front, lead you to believe are going to be an entire store full of chihuahua clothes but are instead a small section of designer chihuahua clothes surrounded by many more generic pet supplies, again, these doggie boutiques trying to be copy the approach of the major doggie shops, just without the money to afford enough space to be one of those major pet store places.

And I think it’s a mistake. These doggie boutique shops have such an advantage over the huge dog stores because they are small and because they can choose to focus in on just one area of the dog clothing world. If you ask me, a little doggie clothing store that specializes and only sells the best small dog clothing is far more valuable than a store of the same size that is essentially trying to be a jack of all doggie trades. A small doggie boutique that focuses in on the realm of small dog clothing and sticks to selling those chihuahua clothes and yorkie outfits and Maltese costumes and shih tzu dresses, and very little else, will draw the crowds because they’ll become an authority on small doggie clothes over time and people will know them for being that way and as the place to go when you want to pick up some chihuahua clothes for your little dog.

Again, I think it’s far more valuable to the customer to have a niche chihuahua boutique that JUST sells chihuahua clothes and chihuahua accessories and things for chihuahuas than for that same person to have access to yet another pet store, but simply crammed into a smaller space and with less selection.

But that’s my opinion, and I can’t speak for all dog owners. But that is why I made the Chihuahua Shop into the kind of dog boutique that just focuses on small dog clothing for chihuahuas and the other small breeds out there.
