Chihuahua Apparel For The Dog Fashion-Inclined Chihuahua Owner’s Soul

I have a confession: ever since I got my first two chihuahuas years ago, I’ve been slightly obsessed with chihuahua apparel. Maybe it’s all the comments your little dogs get when they’re wearing small dog clothes, or perhaps it’s the way chihuahua clothes make your little doggie’s face look even more adorable when its peering out of a little chihuahua costume… I don’t know what it is exactly, but it was enough to make me start the Chihuahua Shop a little while ago so I could help other fashion passionate owners of small dogs find some of the best apparel for chihuahuas on the planet.

In the past few years, I have seen my fair share of dog T-shirts and dog sweaters for chihuahuas. I’ve been to the little doggie fashion shows, where owners parade their pets around on the runway, sporting some new style of chihuahua dog apparel, strutting their stuff for a designer label of some sort. If you’ve even been to one of these doggie fashion shows, you’ll know what I mean when I say they don’t always go exactly as planned! Sometimes the chihuahuas and yorkies have to “go” on stage and it creates a rather comical (and stinky) scene amid the dog fashionistas!

But on a more serious note (if there is such at thing when we’re talking about chihuahua clothes…), dog holiday costumes or a niche chihuahua shirt is often a surprisingly effective gift for someone you care about who has chihuahuas or another breed of small dog. Most chihuahua owners care deeply about their little fur children, and when you show those dog-children some fashion love, the owner usually reacts very warmly and is happy about the whole thing!

In addition to chihuahua apparel, the Chihuahua Store has seen the addition of some very fashionable chihuahua dog jewelry over the past few months. So now, in addition to picking up those two adorable chihuahua vests you see in the store catalogue and those other clothes for chihuahuas that are so freaking cool, you can accessorize your little canine gift-target with Swarovski crystal-laced necklaces and other dog bling that takes the whole notion of dog apparel to the next level.

But moving away from the dog accessories for a moment and back onto apparel for chihuahuas, as far as the fringe pet fashion for chihuahuas is concerned, I’ve been going through the chihuahua store’s dresses. I’ve been noticing a lot of people are really liking the chihuahua princess dress this spring and now into to the summer. It seems that the Brits want to have their afternoon tea party with their chihuahuas and other small dogs in their UK homes (and tower castles), and the Americans are enjoying their Sunday afternoon picnics at the dog park with their pet fashion friends, which I think is very cool. Any time you can spend time with friends, in nature, with a fashion focus; that is chihuahuatastic! Haha!

If you’d like to see what I believe is some of the very best chihuahua clothing online right now, visit the Chihuahua Shop (there’s a link below). We carry casual canine clothes for your little chiwawa baby, and the designer doggy coats for your badass chihuahua boy. Wherever your fascination lies with chihuahua apparel, you will very likely find the object of your chihuahua fashion obsession there! -Mikey

Dachshund Clothing: In Search Of The Best Wiener Dog Fashion!

I’ve been looking around at the dachshund clothing selection out there in the online pet stores and the local dog clothing boutiques, and I have to say that I’m not very impressed.

Any dachshund owner who’s interested in small dog clothing knows how hard it can be to find clothes that are both small and long enough to fit your dachshund correctly… I’ve been looking around at dachshund jackets and dachshund coats in these different pet stores and I’m just not seeing anything that really fits the bill.

I did find a few dachshund raincoats online that, from their photos, looked like they’d fit the bill for most cutie pie fashionista wiener dogs, but for the most part, it’s the collars and leads that seemed to be marketed the most for dachshunds, which is a little unusual since a collar or lead isn’t usually bred-specific! I know that if you have a really small dog like a chihuahua, then sure: you might want a super small collar for her, but otherwise, with the bigger dogs, usually a lead is a lead and a collar is a collar. But I digress…

I’ve been wanting to bring in some dachshund costumes to the store, because what could be more ridiculously adorable than a little furry sausage wearing a dog costume?! Seriously, dachshunds are adorable enough as they are, but you pair them up with their little dachshund clothes and you have something that could almost kill most older people by heart attack caused by K-9 cuteness overload!

Off all the dachshund dresses, I’d probably say the bridal set is the most adorable, keeping with the general trend in small pet clothes. The bride and groom set for dogs is a tough act to beat in the category of cute! And it’s really no different with clothes for dachshunds, only they look even more darling!

We have some beautiful new shirts and sweaters for dachshunds at the store right now, so invite you to check them out and see for yourself. Wiener dog clothes are a bit of a new hobby of mine, so I’m going to work away at bringing a few more of them to the shop, but until then, happy shopping for your dachshund clothing and your pet clothes for your other little dogs, and I’ll speak to you again very soon! -Mikey

New Designer Pet Supplies On The Way!

I’m freaking excited because the new designer pet supplies for chihuahuas and other little dogs have been arriving and we have them up in the Chihuahua Shop now! I’ve been trying for a while now to bring in some cool new chihuahua collars and the new season dog collars have just arrived, so I’m stoked! I’ve been working to find some great new designer dog supplies over the past few weeks and I’ve seen everything from eco friendly dog beds that you can throw away into the landfill and it will break down quickly, apparently, to car harnesses for dogs that you use to strap in your little dog into your back seat like you would a child!

It’s kind of crazy what’s out there right now in the way of these new luxury pet supplies, but I think I’m going to stick to finding the best chihuahua apparel and other fashion for smaller dogs that I can, and bring them in for you guys. The dog toys, the funky LED dog collars and leashes, the doggy smart ramps for getting your dog into the back of your car without having to jump in (lol!): they’re cool and everything, but I’m seeing a lot more interest in chihuahua clothes and the whole dog fashion thing at the moment, so unless you guys really want some of these extras and you let me know about it, I’m going to keep working on finding and bringing the coolest little clothes to the Chihuahua Clothes Store, here.

On the designer pet accessories front, I have been thinking about finding some cool, blingtuclar dog dowls to the shop, but I haven’t found any that really scream “this is my water, bitch!” in that whole princess, queen-of-the-house way that I think one of these bowls should read. We dog have chihuahua jewelry that speaks to that inner chihuahua queen some dominant chihauhas have, but I want to find some matching dog water bowls to go with those!

I’ve also been checking out some designer dog houses and dog crates lately, because every little doggy needs a crystal-studded little house of his own, right? I’ve also seen some adorable dog totes and chihuahua carriers from Louis Vuitton and, if I’m not mistaken, Chanel. I’d be super stoked if we could bring those to the Chihuahua Store, here!

These dog supplies are very hot right now, and I’m not sure about all of the dog accessories I’ve seen being marketed out there for chihuahuas and yorkies and maltese dogs lately, but I have seen some super cool designer pet supplies that would make great dog lover gifts. We have some great ones there at the Chihuahua Store, so go check them out and I’ll be back again soon with the latest news from the chihuahua clothes fashion industry! -Mikey

Maltese Clothes For The Fashionable White Fluffy Dog

If you’re the proud owner of a small dog like a Maltese, sooner or later you’re going to be an owner of small dog clothing. Of course, it’s always better if you can buy clothing for your specific breed of dog, so if you have a Maltese, you’re going to pick out Maltese clothes, if you have chihuahua, you’ll pick up chihuahua clothing, and so on!

Little fluffy white Maltese dogs look particularly adorable in their little sweaters and shirts, and of course, if you’re giving your Maltese a summer cut, and you’re inside in an air conditioned room, these little dogs can get pretty cold after a while of just hanging out and chillin’. So you’re going to want to make sure you pick up some small dog clothes for your Maltese, like these adorable ones Petchichi.com show us here:

I know that some people think that it’s weird to dress up your dog in clothing. They remark that it’s “wrong” and it’s borderline animal abuse, but the fact is that these clothes help your little dog stay more comfortable, they dress up your dog, and yes, they do make your dog even more cute. Don’t get me wrong: I actually think it is kind of weird. I wasn’t a huge fan of chihuahua clothes or anything like it just a few years ago, but after a little time of owning a small dog, I definitely came around and now I love it. And so do my dogs: my chihuahuas and my other little foster dogs actually come running over to me when I pick up their chihuahua clothes so I can put it on them! And as I said, they seem to really like it, provided it’s comfortable and not itchy or bothering them because it’s too tight for their body 😉

And there’s nothing to say there’s anything wrong with having your dog look even more cute, I mean I know that small Maltese dogs are already pretty darn adorable, but when you dress them up in clothing, it just takes that natural cuteness and amps it up and multiplies it by about a factor of ten. It’s a little hard to imagine Maltese dogs getting any cuter than they already are with their little furry faces and that white fluff, but believe me: when you have Maltese clothing on them, the sky is the limit for what you can do with them fashion-wise with bows and ties and that whole thing!

And it’s a whole lot of fun, especially with kids (and…err… the young at heart!) who like to make-believe and role play. These little clothes allows them to get into the character, into the role and really imagine and fantasize story lines even better, letting them play in the land of fantasy, which is a lot of fun!

And of course if you have other dog owner friends, nothing will bond you faster to someone else who is into dog clothing than dressing your own Maltese in her Maltese clothes; it’s an endless conversation piece–almost to an insane degree!

But yeah, a couple of years ago, I started dressing up my Maltese rescue that I was fostering in little doggy clothing, and it was actually really useful: we had a couple of people looking for a dog to adopt, and they came, then went, and then they didn’t come back. Well we started dressing our little Maltese in clothing, we took new pictures of her and posted them up on Dogster, and almost immediately she had a lot of emails coming in and was adopted within a week through a great rescue group! It was pretty magical …it seems that with dogs, people fall in love through their eyes, and then that’s pretty much what seals the deal! Some would say that’s a sad fact, but it is what it is, so I say we use that to these little guys’ advantage 🙂

So anyway, this is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg when it comes to Maltese clothes. We carry some clothing for this adorable breed at our little dog clothing store HERE, so check it out, and I’ll talk to you again soon. Cheers! -Mikey

Toy Dog Clothing Fashion Show To Raise Money For Homeless Shelter Dogs

I’m super excited because I have a friend who’s preparing for her very own toy dog clothing fashion show in Los Cabos, Mexico! She’s putting this show on to help raise money for the local Humane Society there, and so she’s getting ready, collecting all the coats for small dogs that she can from friends and coworkers, so she can dress up the smaller dessert mutts at the Los Cabos Humane Society in little toy dog clothes and help raise money for the cause. And, with a bit of luck, a few of the dogs will catch the eye of potential pet owners and get adopted. I’m super excited for these little chihuahuas and other little doggies in Cabo that will be strutting their stuff to save their skins and help raise money to keep their shelter running!

My friend truly has a heart of gold. In a past life, I used to work at the Los Cabos Humane Society and she would come in and volunteer when she had time away from her job. She’d feed the smaller dogs and dress them up in their sweaters for small dogs and their donated chiwawa clothes at night so they’d stay warmer over the cool dessert night and sleep better. And we’d walk the little dogs over the dessert sand dunes behind the shelter and give the pets-in-waiting their exercise each day.

Like I said, this person has a heart of gold, and a few years ago she came up with this great idea for a fundraiser for the shelter dogs: she would put on a little doggy fashion show. See, it’s very expensive proposition–running an animal shelter–and when you house 50-60 dogs plus about 30 cats, you spay and neuter them, you take care of their health and medicate them when needed, you feed them, and you take care of all their vet checks and vaccinations, plus you fly them out to adoptive homes in the US and Canada when they have people interested in adopting them, the expenses add up rather quickly and you really need to have a few good fundraisers every year just so that you can continue to operate and survive to help more dogs like these little critters:

So my friend came up with the idea of dressing up the little dogs at their shelter in the small yorkie apparel and other clothing for toy doggies she had collected over the years, and hosting a fashion show for the dogs and make an event out of the whole thing, to bring people in and collect donations. It was a great idea, and she’s getting ready to do it for the second time, now!

I’ve been sending my spare dog apparel for small dogs down to her and asking my neighbors if they had any clothes for toy dogs they didn’t want any more, so we could send them down for my friend to dress up the cutest small dogs at the shelter with and have her little fashion show fundraiser with the smaller dogs there.

I wanted to share this story with you because it’s not every day you hear about dog outfits for small dogs making a core difference in the lives of so many animals, especially when we’re talking life and death here with the shelter dogs! Usually when I’m thinking about little chihuahua clothes, I’m thinking about how cute and cuddly they make little dogs look and how this pink sweater would match great with those white doggy boots, and all of this other superficial stuff–not that there’s anything wrong with that; I think that’s part of the joy of dog clothes: they let us have fun and not take things so seriously. But for the dogs who aren’t living the life in a nice home with a loving family to call their own, it’s nice to see that toy dog clothing can still serve a positive purpose and help these dogs out, along with the incredible work of some people like my friend with the heart of gold in Cabo!
