Dog Coats for Small Dogs: Through The Eyes of A Chihuahua

Oh hi there!–it’s Namaste the chihuahua again! Mikey has gone out to buy groceries and it’s my chance do another guest sneak-post here on the chihuahua clothes shop’s blog! I managed to dig through some of the new dog clothing inventory at the store and I managed to drag out some super cool dog coats for small dogs, and I’m going to try and write what I think about them here (if my paws let me…)

I have to say that perhaps my favorite outfit is my snugly warm dog coat my owner got me last year! As a little dog, I get cold down here on the ground, and when I’m not on my walk, and I spend a little time lounging around inside on a hot day in the cooled room, I start to shiver and freeze down here! It gets really cold when you’re all the way down here AND you’re a breed that has a super high metabolism and you shed your body heat quickly.

Hooded Chihuahua ParkasSo any small dog coats that keep me a little warmer, I love! I’m super in love with my dog fleeces and, at night, really like to wear them over top my dog pyjamas. It keeps me nice and comfortable!

Another one of my favorite chihuahua outfits is my high visibility dog coat, for when I’m out walking around at night. I’m not really sure what it’s like up there when you’re walking along the side of the street as a human, but when you’re all of ten inches tall and a loud car goes by a little too close, it’s freaking scary. So I’m definitely a fan of the little dog suits and fleece coats for small dogs that have those fluorescent strips on them so your cars can see me and not run me over! Oh, it freaks me out every time someone zooms by in a loud, noisy automobile! I don’t like it! 🙁

Little Dog Ski ParkasThose are some of my favorites in the little dog coats arena, but I’ve seen so many more styles in the new Chihuahua Store here. There’s these fashion dog coats that have fur lining (fake fur, of course!), these crazy cool quilted parkas with hoods, chihuahua vests with fur collars, and even these little luxury ski parkas for dogs, for when you really want to treat one of us to a life of comfort and warmth in the cold!

Well I have to go and get all these small dog coats for small dogs back in the store before Mikey comes home and sees me, finds out I can type and write about chihuahua clothing, and then puts me to work here full time in the chihuahua shop!! I can’t have anything taking away from my precious lounging time by the pool or my snuggle time with him by his feet while he works on his laptop. I’ll try to write again soon, the next time he leaves the house! xoxo -Namaste!! ..err, ahemm, -a little bird

Cheap Chihuahua Clothes Getting Harder To Find!

I’ve been working to bring in some new cheap chihuahua clothes to the Chihuahua Shop here, but it has not been easy: dog clothing prices are rising and it is seriously not easy to find quality chihuahua clothes for cheap right now. That said, I am working on it, but at the moment I don’t have much of anything below $25 US in the way of a full chihuahua outfit. We have these awesome chihuahua accessories like cheap chihuahua booties and socks you can find at the Chihuahua Shop, some cool and cheap chihuahua hats, as well as the very popular chihuahua collar charms pictured below that are selling like wildfire. But in terms of full outfit cheap chihuahua clothes for the inexpensive dog clothes hunters, I’m not seeing anything I like right now besides the odd second-hand dog clothing sale once in a while that you’ll see in the local flea markets when you’re lucky enough to come by a chihuahua owner who’s getting rid of some spare chihuahua clothes!

When I browse around for these cheaper chihuahua clothes and other cheap toy dog breed clothing, all I find are stores that have these very thin-fabric, fragile cheap chihuahua clothes dog t-shirts and pet coats that honestly look kind of crappy and not-so-stylish. I don’t mean to bash these other places, it’s just not my style. I’m more of the opinion that if I’m going to spend money on something, I want it to be worthwhile: I want it to look super cool, I want it to last, …and I have to like it! Cheap chihuahua clothes like these little denim dog clothes and plaid pants I see being sold at some these other places just make me shake my head and wonder sometimes, but hey: different strokes for different folks, right?

Are there ANY Cheap Chihuahua Clothes?

With that said, there is one store I’ve seen that has insanely cheap chihuahua clothing if you just want to get your feet wet with these clothes and pick out a dog tank top or something simple for your little dog’s first outfit to try out and see if she likes wearing clothes (which I can almost certainly guarantee you she will, haha!). It’s the Dog Dug dog clothing shop, and they have this insanely huge selection of pet clothing for owners who want to be frugal and not spend very much on their first dog clothes:

You can even find wholesale chihuahua clothes at this place, and the variety of the outfits and little dog fashion they stock is impressive. You can find everything from small stretch cotton cheap chihuahua clothes socks to these funky bumble bee costume coats for your little chiwawa doggy, and just about every other article of clothing in different sizes–everything you can imagine, and then some.

Where Can I See Your Best Cheap Chihuahua Clothes?

So yes, I am working away at bringing some cheap chihuahua clothes to the Chihuahua Htore, here, but I have to first find some I like. I’m not willing to trade quality for price here at this store, so when I find some cheap chihuahua dresses I like and think are worthy of the shop, I’ll see if I can bring them to the Chihuahua Shop, along with some other low-cost pet clothing. I love cheap chihuahua clothes as much as the next chihuahua owner, as long as they’re cool and quality! Speak to you again soon! -Mikey

Chihuahua Coats, From The Perspective Of A Little Dog!

Hi there! It’s Namaste again and I have a little window of time to mash up another quick commentary here while my owner is out, this time on the warm, snuggly issue of chihuahua coats! I’ve noticed that when it comes to chihuahua clothes, there are a lot of different styles and types of outfits that you can get for us to keep us little dogs warmer: you’ve got the shirts that add a little fashion flair to your dog, you’ve got the dresses and the costumes that dress them us and make us into a certain character that can look ridiculously cute and adorable, and then you’ve also got one of our favorites: chihuahua coats, which primarily aim to keep us little doggies warmer!

As a little dog, life can be a bit rough at times: we have much, much higher metabolism that helps us cool off in the intense heat of our native home of Mexico, but when your owner lives in a cooler country and you don’t live in a hot place like Mexico all year-round, things can really get kind of cold for us, because we cool off rapidly fast with this high metabolism, and that’s already adding to the fact that we have a short coat of hair! So it’s kind of crazy. We can go in the heat and be fine, but then we come in and within a couple minutes of coming in, we’re shivering like nuts! So chihuahua clothes are definitely appreciated, and especially if you’re living in a colder climate, oh my god–they’re a MUST for us, otherwise we’ll often be shaking in misery and it is just not fun… it’s really uncomfortable. So chihuahua coats definitely keep us warmer and a lot more comfortable!

When it comes to the different styles of chihuahua clothes, you’ve got fashionable ones that are flashy and kind of hip and trendy, you’ve got the traditional parka, there’s the fleece chihuahua coat, and there’s the big poofy vest chihuahua coats–very popular right now amongst my cool chihuahua friends!

Even sometimes in the summer, when spending a lot of time indoors at the office with my owners while they’re working away and they’ve got the air conditioning blasting for themselves and the other coworkers, down on the floor (ie: where all the cold air is) it can get really cold after a little while, especially when you’re not even a foot tall! So having a chihuahua coat on is by far the more comfortable option in this scenario, and I really like it 🙂

Chihuahua coats: where to find them:

Of all the places we’ve seen so far, we really like the Chihuahua Clothes Shop for finding new coats for chihuahuas. They’ve got a great selection of these chihuahua coats that you can check out there. I would heartily recommend it. It’s great because it lets you get your fashion freak-out on with your little dog and lets you take your little dog’s cuteness and amp it up even more and it’s like putting our cuteness on steroids! We little dogs are cute, but when you wrap us up in a little coats, it’s like a brain-fry adorableness overload with how cuddly and cute and sweet we look! So if you want to make your us really cute like this, go check out these coats for chihuahuas, and I’ll be back again soon the next time my owner heads out and I get a chance! Ok bye, chihuahua coat seekers!! -Namaste the (warm) Chihuahua

Dog Jumpers for Chihuahuas, and The Crazy Dog Lady

I had to laugh today because I saw some of the new dog jumpers in the UK and dog sweaters at the Chihuahua Store, and it made me think of this crazy dog lady I’ve been seeing on my walks with my two chihuahuas, lately. This woman is perhaps a little off-kilter, but she sure does have a flair for her sense of chihuahua clothes fashion! She’s from the UK and has these five dogs, each a different breed: a husky, a puli, a German shepherd, a yorkie, and a chihuahua; and here’s the kicker: every single time I see them, these dogs are all wearing these CRAZY psychedelic colored dog hoodies that look like they’ve been warped through time from the 60’s! It’s insane. What’s more: every time I see them, they’re running really fast, like almost sprinting! Many people walk their dogs, some people run with them, but this chick freaking BLASTS by with her dogs. It’s like watching some kind of super hero team bolt by on a fashion mission in their little doggy jumpers. I seriously have to fight to not let out this silly giggle every time I witness this bizarre episode!

Personally, I think it’s great what she’s doing. I mean, running with your dog is such a great way to get exercise, to bond with your pet, and to give your dog what is usually some much-needed exercise–it’s such a great opportunity. But this crazy dog woman takes it up a notch, not only with the Olympic athlete speed with which she and her little pack of dogs sprint by me, but they’re all wearing these cool little dog jumpers! I love the hoody! And when you adapt it for physical activity and make them comfortable for your little dog to wear in the case of the chihuahua jumpers, you end up with functional exercise fashion for your dog that’s freaking cool.

Especially for the small dogs, the little chihuahua dog hoodie is invaluable in keeping them cozy and warm and comfortable on a cool day, and I don’t know about you, but dog clothing like small dog sweatshirts have always been not just one of the ways I pamper my dog, but one of the main ways I take care of my apple head chihuahuas and keep them comfy. I know that eccentric, crazy chihuahua clothes are often what people think of when they form a picture of dog clothing in their mind, but those costume outfits and dresses and costumes are but a fraction of this little clothing world for dogs in comparision to the practical apparel of the chihuahua dog sweater and the little dog hoodie. Chihuahua clothes are practical and functional, in addition to being fashionably freaky at times, is what I’m saying.

This crazy lady with the five dogs has her pooches wearing these different jumpers: the yorkie has a wool jumper, the chihuahua wears a little knitted dog jumper that was a birthday present from the owner, and the other three have this customized sporty jogging suit that has a fluorescent flashy, reflective strip on it.

It’s a bit of a freakshow, this bullet-speed pack of dogs and their owner, and I definitely get a kick out of watching their insanely out-of-context exercise regimen go down every day: I think the lesson here is that when in doubt, mix chihuahua clothing with cute dogs and then sprint full blast around the marina with the other little dogs and their owners casually walking around, slowly! Try that out and see the reactions you get, lol!

Anyway, enough about the crazy dog girl. The chihuahua clothes shop has some very high quality chihuahua sweaters and dog jumpers that you can check out at the Chihuahua Clothes shop, and I highly recommend you do because I have seen them and they’re great at keeping your dog more comfortable in cooler places without making it harder for them to walk around. So check them out, see for yourself, and I’ll back here again soon!

Chihuahua Carriers: Making Life Easier On The Road With Your Pet

Travelling with your little dog can be a trying experience. It depends, of course, on the temperament of your dog and the relationship you share with each other, but I’ve noticed a lot of chihuahuas in particular that are frantic and antsy, that their owners either haven’t trained or they don’t treat like dogs, so they develop these issues and can be a little more anxious than bigger breeds of dogs that people take a bit more seriously, and it can be a nightmare to travel with this dog, often. If your dog gets like this but you want to travel with him, then I heartily recommend taking a look at chihuahua carriers that allow you to more easily transport your dog. Especially if you’re going to be on an airplane and you want to fly with your little dog, you’re going to need one of these pet carriers to stow under your seat with your chihuahua inside. If that’s the case, then you’re definitely going to want to check them out and make sure you can find a comfortable one for your prince or princess!

There’s a plethora of small dog carriers today: everything form designer fashion handbags that have been made into dog carriers, to your standard duffel bag style soft chihuahua carrier, and just about everything in between.

These useful pet carrier bags have become very in-vogue and you see them everywhere today. Even dorm students trying to sneak their little dogs into the college buildings are picking up these carriers like crazy and slipping their dog inside and walking around inside like there’s nothing to it. If you’re crafty, you can even slip on the plane unnoticed with your dog and avoid having to pay the crazy fee the airlines want to charge you these days for carrying a dog on board, if you play your cards right: with a chihuahua carrier that looks like a little duffel bag, you can take off your sweater, put it over and cover up the open part of the carrier while you’re at the ticket counter and checking your luggage so nobody spots the dog, and then walk through to customs without a problem, and then you’re set!–nobody in customs actually communicates with the airlines and they never ask to see a ticket or anything for your chihuahua when you pull him out and walk through the scanner–they’re too busy swooning over how cute he looks in his “chiwawa” clothes, haha! I’ve done this at least a dozen times, and each time, I’m saving even more money because the prices for flying with your dog keeps going up, but this is becoming rather tangential and beside the point!

visit all chihuahua carriers at the Chihuahua Store

The point is that traveling with a dog in a carrier makes the whole process much easier, especially if you have kids and other craziness happening around you on travel day and you’ve got a bunch of little things happening all at once, grabbing your attention, and you’ve not a zen master of traveling and you’re like most of us and the whole process is a little chaotic (but fun!)

Even when not traveling, I make use of my dogs’ chihuahua carriers because there’s something soothing to dogs about a smaller, confined space that calms them down. Apparently, the smaller the space they’re in, the calmer they get, or so they say, according to dog expert Cesar Millan of the the Dog Psychology Center in Los Angeles, California. I’ve definitely noticed this to be true with my dogs, especially if there’s a loud storm happening and there’s lightning and loud thunder that’s freaking my little doggies out like crazy, and they’re running around: often I can just put them in their dog carriers/kennels and they calm right down. There’s something about not giving them the option to move around and physically freak out that keeps their mind more calm. And they like it. They like that peaceful, tranquil state of mind, I notice 🙂

So if you’re travelling and you want to keep things simple and keep your chihuahua dog from running around and having to constantly police him, or you’re going on the plane with your dog, or you want to transport him easily in the city to a lot of different environments and you can’t have a leash and you can’t really have him running around them in whatever building environment you’re in or whatever non-dog-friendly place you happen to spend time in, take a look at these little chihuahua carriers. You can check them out here at the chihuahua clothes shop, and I highly recommend you do because they’re super useful. Have a look, check out the ones you like, and pick one up. I’ll talk to you again soon! -Mikey
