Toy Dog Clothes: Using Them To Meet Hot Guys?

Well I have a special treat for you today: For the rest of this week, I thought I’d ask my good friend Elle to make a few guest posts about her experience with toy dog clothes and her chihuahuas and her tiny pug dogs. Elle lives in New York City, and we met quite a while ago. I first saw her at a coffee shop, and she was there, sipping on her espresso, with her four little doggies all sporting some of the most cute, adorable little toy dog clothing I’ve ever seen. I was there with a chihuahua I was fostering at the time, and Elle and I hit it off immediately. Over the years I’ve known Elle–this last one in particular–she has really opened my eyes and expanded my mind on just what is possible when it comes to using toy dog outfits to enhance not only your dog’s life, but your own via the interesting situations you land in when you have your small dogs dressed up in crazy-cool, outlandish outfits for dogs.

I think a lot of chihuahua owners imagine some aspect of this kind of dog fashion lifestyle for themselves when they pick out the clothes for their little dog and they wander off into fantasy land and think about this stuff, but Elle really lives this lifestyle, and so I think you’ll get a kick of the unique perspective she brings to the table in the realm of dressing up your toy doggies and the experiences that can flow from it!

Today, she’s going to be talking about toy dog clothes and an interesting aspect about how they can make your life a bit more flirtatious, apparently! So enough of me; here she is:

Toy dog clothes and hot guys: the ultimate ice breaker

I just want to start by thanking Mikey for asking me to do this! It’s an honour to post on his blog here that I know he works very hard at, and this is my first guest post on a website, so this is doubly special for me!

Alright, so straight to it: I think that toy dog dresses and shirts and costumes are one of the very best social ice breakers I have ever stumbled across.

As what I consider to be an attractive woman, I get hit on quite a bit. Every day, in some way, men are checking me out and trying to engage me in some way. Sometimes it’s annoying, and sometimes it’s a really hot guy who’s checking me out and it’s a little exciting. What I’ve found is that a lot of these hotter guys actually have a harder time approaching me than some of the other boys, and that can be so frustrating!

But, I’ve noticed this almost always ceases to be the case when I’ve got my dogs out with me and we’re walking along an THEY are all dressed up in their toy dog clothes. When I’m out with my little angels and they’re sporting their stylish outfits, the hotter guys seem to have a much easier time coming over to me and striking up a conversation.

I don’t know what you will think of that. I know that some people I’ve discussed this with think it’s totally manipulative of your dogs and that’s it’s wrong to “use” them like this. And others are totally floored when I get talking about it with them. Personally, I figure I need to walk my dogs anyways and put in that time to lead them and give them the physical and mental stimulation they need every day, so why not just bring them with me wherever I go in life whenever possible and have my little ice-breaking entourage with me at all times??

It has certainly worked well for me. I find that it still works alright without your pooches wearing their toy dog fashion, but it seems to work a lot better when they are. There’s something about having little dogs dressed up in these cute little outfits that makes for such easy conversation food that it’s beautiful. It gives people something easy to talk about with you… I love it! I’ve had so much more social success while I’m out and about running errands when I have my little dressed up pups with me!

So I HOPE you’ll try this out yourself and see what happens, at the very least! I think it’s important to keep in mind that while I know that bringing my dressed up toy dogs with me increases my chances of having guys I’m interested coming up to me, that’s definitely not the ONLY reason I do it. I genuinely know that my little guys need their exercise and so bringing them with me is just a great way of giving that to them when I’m already going places anyway. But adding the clothes on their little cute, furry backs definitely does increase the likelihood of the more attractive men coming over and talking to me, who would often not do so… 😉

I think Mikey wants me to write him another piece for tomorrow, so I think we’ll be speaking again soon! Leave me some comments if you like what I wrote or you hate it or you have your own take on it! -Elle

Mikey: Thanks so much Elle. I super appreciate it! Clothes for Chihuahua Puppies

Chihuahua clothes may be cute, but clothes for chihuahua puppies are even more so. Combining the overwhelmingly adorable nature of puppies with chihuahua fashion into modern chihuahua puppy clothing is almost too much cuteness for the eyes to handle, at least for myself and 99% of the chihuahua owners and lovers I cross paths with each day! This fashion for young chihuahua dogs is like the core essence of cute condensed into a little outfit that your dog wears and then radiates out into the hearts of everyone who catches a glimpse of her. It’s certainly a sight to behold!

But the aesthetic factor aside, dressing up your chihuahua puppy is often done for very practical reasons. A purebred chihuahua breeder in this big Canadian city I’m currently living in tells me that whenever her chihuahua bitches give birth to a new litter, she has them dressed up in little chihuahua puppy outfits just a few weeks later. “It’s not that they need them,” she tells me, “but when you live in a place this cold in the winter, a breed of dog like the chihuahua that is designed for living in a much warmer climate definitely benefits from the extra warmth that these little outfits provide.”

And I have to agree with her. My own full grown, adult chihuahuas shiver non-stop in the winters up her in the freezing Canadian winters if I don’t dress them up in a few layers of chihuahua clothes. And so having a few extra layers and some coats for chihuahua puppies making their debut in this icy cold part of the world makes a lot of sense to me. Usually, when it comes to newborns and anything involving dogs or nature or any kind, I feel strongly about leaving it alone and letting it exist “as it is”, without our human intervention f#*king it up. But today, with this completely unnatural situation with chihuahuas and all the other dogs that we’ve created, where they live out houses with us and we feed them premium food and walk them on leashes and we overdose them on affection and dress them up in clothes, that natural equilibrium has shifted, and I think to not intervene at this point and work within this new dog-human world we’ve created over the past few centuries and help these dogs out when we can would actually be cruel. To do nothing when we can easily do something to help these chihuahua puppies born into a cold world would be wrong.

My weird opinions aside, I am seeing a lot of chihuahua puppy fashion out there right now. With the owners who have their so-called “teacup chihuahuas” and their micro chihuahuas and whatever the hell else people are calling chihuahua puppies (and, sadly, malnourished-and-consequently-small chihuahuas, as well) these days, a lot of them have their little dogs all decked out to the nines in the latest clothing for chiwawa pups, and some of it is adorable!

Pocket Chihuahua Dogs Live a Challenged Life, Often

When I first heard my friend use the phrase “pocket chihuahua,” my eyebrow had to have raised while I wondered what the hell she was talking about. “She’s probably talking about a ‘teacup chihuahua,’ I thought. And as my mind kept thinking about little mini chihuahuas you would carry around in your pocket, my friend kept explaining to me how much she wants to get one of these little pocket chihuahuas.

And as I listened to her talk and go on and on about how much one of these micro picket tea cup chihuahuas would mean to her, I couldn’t help but wonder why on earth it’s so important to some of us that our dogs be so insanely small and tiny.

I recently learned that these tiny chihuahuas are as small as they are either:

a) because they are just young puppies that have not grown up yet into their full size,

b) they are adults, but have remained small because whoever took care of them when they were developing fed them the bare minimum it took to sustain their little bodies and malnourished them into remaining small and underdeveloped,

or c) because they are the product of breeders’ selection, where only the smallest chihuahuas are bred again and again with each other, with a lot of inbreeding and very little genetic diversity introduced from generation to generation and, as a result, a lot of inbred health problems cropping up with these little guys.

Pocket chihuahua video…

I’m not someone who likes to judge, but when I hear about all the problems that dogs this small typically encounter, from the people I’ve talked to who have had them, I can’t help but feel a little shitty for these tiny guys.

I’m all for small dogs. I think they’re adorable, I think they’re cute, and I almost can’t resist them any more. I’ve gone gaga for the chihuahua breed. And I love to dress them up in the cutest little chihuahua clothes to boot!

But I like them in their natural state, the way nature intended. When we humans start screwing with the natural cycle of things and creating little dogs like these pocket chihuahuas that often have a hard time breathing and a host of other medical maladies, I do not feel good about that. I’m not a fan of that, and for me, that’s crossing the line.

If you have one of these micro pocket chihuahua dogs and she’s a healthy little bugger, I’m happy for you. And if you’d like to dress her up in the latest pocket chihuahua clothes, I’d recommend checking out the Chihuahua Shop in that case. But if you’re thinking about getting a chihuahua and you’re considering these tiny pocket ones, I really hope you’ll reconsider. They may look cute, but being that small has a lot of setbacks, and to keep supporting the people breeding and sometimes underfeeding these animals is not helping these little guys. A lot of these little dogs live challenged lives, and that’s not cool. So please, please, please: reconsider your choice to buy a pocket chihuahua if you’re looking to buy one… -Mikey

Small Chihuahua Clothes: Almost Letting You Get Away With Murder

I’ve really been noticing the effect small chihuahua clothes have on dog lovers, lately. I’ve seen people with their little chihuahuas in places where you’re really not supposed to have your dogs, getting away with it seemly because their cute doggies are wearing adorable little clothes for chihuahuas. I could be wrong, but instead of security guards escorting people out of ritzy office buildings during busy office hours, I’ve seen more than just a few chihuahua owners slipping by these gatekeepers with their dogs when said cutie-pie-canines are sporting their smaller chihuahua clothing. Again, my observations could just be a coincidence lately, but I think there’s a correlation here between the cuteness of these small chihuahua clothes and the leniency people show towards these dogs and the degree to which they allow owners to bend the rules our societies have toward little dogs.

A small chihuahua’s clothes are like a megaphone for their cuteness. These little puppies are already insanely cute–so much so that they could potentially blow up your head with excitement and cuteness overload. Well you dress them up their little chihuahua clothes and it’s like putting their adorability (if that’s a word…) on steroids AND crack at the same time. These chihuahaus really go through the roof with their image when they’re all dressed up in their tiny chihuahua outfits.

And so, along with this massive increase in chihuahua visual stimulation comes the effect this has on people: smaller chihuahua clothing really seems to make people feel more strongly about them:, usually in the positive direction. If you just try to sneak your dog into the office building with you and the door man sees you, he’ll often tell you that you can’t bring your chihuahua in with you, even if you’re carrying her. But with that same dog in that same situation all dressed to the nines in some adorable smaller chihuahua clothing, the door dude will often concede and allow you to get away with the doggy trespassing. Of course, this isn’t always the case, but in and around this city of dog lovers and semi-fanatical dog culture, I see a lot of people bending the supposed “rules” of the land with their doggies dressed up in little chihuahua fashion.

My friend even told me the other day that she got away with speeding through a school zone the other day after the cop pulled her over, they chatted for a while, and the conversation turned to her little chihuahua all dressed up in his small chihuahua clothes. She told me that she NEVER manages to talk the police out of giving her tickets, but there was just something about her cute little dog all dressed up in his adorable little chihuahua clothes that seemed to win the officer over and convinced him to be lenient with her. Nice!

Obviously, I’m not advocating you walk around with your chihuahua dressed up in cute chihuahua clothes and assuming you have an automatic get-out-jail-free card up your sleeve as a result. But isn’t that interesting? It’s just something to keep in mind the next time you’re about to head out with your dog and you can imagine yourself getting into a few situations with your chihuahua that may or may not be a little …”socially pressured”, let’s call it 😉

And by the way the way, if you’re looking for some of the cutest small chihuahua clothes on the planet, look no further than the Chihuahua Shop. We carry some of the very best lines of little outfits for your chihuahuas, and we do our very best to keep the costs as low as possible so you don’t go broke the next time you visit, can’t control yourself because the clothes are so chihuahua-chic, and you go on a massive chihuahua shopping spree! Anyway, go check them out at the Chihuahua Shop, and I’ll speak to you again soon. 🙂 -Mikey Davis

Tiny Chihuahua Clothes for Little Chihuahuas

Living in a big city right now, I’m spotting new tiny chihuahua clothes all over the place right now. By dog loving, dog owning friends are all telling me the same thing: that small chihuahua outfits are very big right now in the chihuahua world. Apparently, the chihuahua owners, with their cute little bundles of short and long haired joy, just can’t get enough of the little chihuahua clothing! There’s just something about these cute tiny outfits for the deer heads and the apple heads that bring people into the Chihuahua Shop like mad these days.

A chihuahua’s tiny clothing protects her from the cold air out there right now. These little dog outfits are also pretty darn stylish, in case you’ve been living under a rock lately and haven’t noticed the tiny chihuahua fashion explosion taking place in the pet clothing industry this year. Despite the crap economy, small dog owners are continuing to blow exorbitant quantities of money on little dog outfits for their chihuahuas. It seems these small chihuahua sweaters and shirts and coats are striking a chord inside of the chihuahua owners, for whatever reason.

These tiny dog clothes seem appeal to a lot of different owners. Even chihuahua owners who have never previously purchased chihuahua clothes or any kind of fashion for tiny puppies before are showing up at the Chihuahua Shop and taking a look. When asked why they’re changing their mind, it seems due to a general shift in the mentality of dog owners: chihuahuas and other little dogs (and even big dogs, apparently) are increasingly their owners’ baby. Dogs are the new children, and chihuahuas are the new babies. And people just can’t seem to get enough of dressing their little fur babies up in tiny chihuahua shirts.

So the tiny chihuahua puppy clothes you find out in the puppy boutiques and the big pet stores are catering more to this children/kid/baby dog mentality. I’m seeing all sorts of small chihuahua coats and chihuahua hoodies with messages on them like “mommy’s little angel” and “papa’s boy.” These endearing sentiments seem to bond owners with their little chihuahuas even more. It’s a sort of emerging tiny chihuahua clothing ritual that owners are going through with their tiny dogs.

Tiny chihuahua clothes: where to find them:

If you’re looking for these tiny chihuahua clothes, you can find them at the Chihuahua Shop. You’ll find t-shirts, sweaters, coats, and a pile of other different small styles of chihuahua clothing at that shop. So head on over there, check their tiny clothes out for your chihuahuas, and check back here again soon for the latest trend report from the insanely kooky and crazy fun world of chihuahua clothes!
