Dog Collars and Leads

I think that dog collars and leads have to be one of my favorite dog accessories. After the chihuahua clothes and the fancy dog bling, my chihuahuas wear their dog collars all the time, and I walk them using their matching dog leads every day! When you’re out walking your dog, you’re on display for the world, and so having fashionable dog leashes for showing off your gorgeous little chihuahua is a must as far as I’m concerned!

I’ve been paying attention to a lot of the dog leads and collars I see people using with their chihuahuas and their other little toy breeds, and it seems that after the majority of boring and bland dog leads and collars, it is chihuahuas with their designer dog collars and their fancy chihuahua leads that are ahead of the rest of the dog work in terms of style.

So many people are out, walking around these gorgeous dogs that are groomed and have these amazing coats of fur because they’re fed the premium brands of dog food, and the whole thing. Many of them even wear chihuahua clothes and other dog apparel for the larger breeds! But very, very few people have the bling collars for their dog like I see on chihuahuas with their stylish chihuahua collars. And I also don’t see many fashion dog leads that match with the collars, right now.

And it’s such a shame, I say! Here they are, these gorgeous dogs with these beautiful small dog clothes, but their owner hasn’t taking the time to find the right matching dog leads and collars to go with their outfits! Small dog collars and short dog leads for these chihuahuas and yorkies and maltese dogs that are perfect for getting your canine fashion bonanza on are everywhere today, especially in the online chihuahua boutiques. Studded Dog Collars

I think studded dog collars are pretty freaking cool, and that’s why I’ve been working so hard to bring a few of these dog collars with studs to the Shop this week. Spiked dog collars are in the same category, really, and I see them most often around the necks of the biker dogs and the doggies perched on the front handlebars of motorcycles all the time! These punk dog collars are a definite throwback to the 80’s and that bad-ass, metal scene, and with studded small dog collars, you get to take a walk on the wild side of dog collars.

Chihuahua collars usually lean more in the category of glam and luxury, studded with crystals and very often pink in color. But these studded dog collars are much more often black leather collars with the metal studs embedded into the collar band. It is possible to find cool dog collars with studs of another, more playful color, like a light blue or a soft pink, but the studded doggie collars usually have that more classic biker look of the black leather band with the chrome metal studs.

You can even find crystal studded puppy collars for your younger dogs, today. These are just your standard studded dog collars, only a bit smaller so that they fit around your puppy’s smaller neck. You can even find spiked collars for dogs that are really small, like chihuahuas, or that are puppies, as well!

But these studded collars for dogs inject that extra bit of attitude into your dog’s appearance and make her look like a bad ass chihuahua! Studded chihuahua collars are starting to appear more and more around where I live, on around the necks of little dogs; and it’s no secret why: little chihuahuas look super cute when they’re sporting a stylish dog collar that has studs or spikes on it!

Cool Dog Collars for Little Dogs

It’s been a lot of fun watching people who’ve been buying the new cool dog collars from the Chihuahua Shop, trying out their new stylish dog collar on their little dog and walking around the little city plaza here where I live. The Chihuahua Shop carries a number of super cool dog collars, to go along with the small dog clothing we specialize in for chihuahuas and other little dogs, and it’s an online store, but the locals here get restless sometimes. They know me and they know that I run the Chihuahua Shop, and so sometimes my dog lover neighbors show up at my door with a burning need to buy a new collar for their dog right now.

I can’t always accommodate them because the dog clothes and the custom dog collars ship from elsewhere! But I usually have a few spares of most of our chihuahua clothes and the new and very cool dog collars that we just got in, and so it is sometimes possible for me to help out my small dog owning fanatic neighbors, who would probably kill to get their hands on the latest designer dog collar for their chihuahua!

An Obsession With Cool Dog Collars

Some of the people in this chihuahua town are flat-out obsessed with cool dog collars and they buy every kind of cool dog collar, along with the personalized puppy collars cool dog collar with funky, cool colored stripes!and the flashy pink dog collars, that they can get their hands on.

They tell me that small dog collars “are the gateway to chihuahua fashion stardom” for their little dogs. I guess for some people, chihuahua collars, and really all collars for small dogs, are something truly special: they’re a dog accessory you get to express your inner fashionista (and your dog’s inner fashionista) through a bling-tacular, flashy, glamorous piece of jewelry that is subtle, but sublime. You can tell I’m channelling my fashion-minded neighbors right now!

Dog Accessories For Completing Your Dog’s Look

I’ve been getting excited, watching the new dog accessories come in to the Chihuahua Clothes Store lately! I always get a little bit of a high whenever we get new chihuahua product, and it was no exception this week with the new dog apparel. I’ve been watching some of my favorite other stores online like GW Little bring in new dog beds and dog backpacks and dog toys this week, but I’ve been focusing on dog clothes for chihuahuas and other small dogs, and I’m really liking what I see at the Chihuahua Shop with the stylish dog clothing on the shelves right now.

Chihuahua clothes have been a passion of mine since I last moved to a new country, met someone, and became the joint owner of two chihuahuas. The clothes are fun, they’re cute, they help my dogs out by keeping them warm. But it’s fun when you get to take your dog’s appearance to the next level with dog accessories like jewelry and collar charms. It can really be a lot of fun!

And then, when you top off the whole small dog experience with custom luxury dog bowls for the house and doggy leashes and dog harnesses for when you walk your little chihuahua each day, it immerses you and your little dog even more in the world of chihuahua fashion, and it can be a blast. I love going into that world of the luxury pet owner (even without spending a fortune on doggy accessories–just with a few choice items I like) and sharing that whole fantasy experience with my dogs. It’s a very enjoyable thing for me, if I’m honest 😉

I like walking through the house, looking through the glass door and seeing my chihuahuas’ little dog houses, and I like carrying them in their little dog carriers when I can’t take them with me on a leash when I’m moving through buildings, downtown during the day. Sometimes it’s one of those days when I am going to take my chihuahuas in their chihuahua clothes and wearing their dog accessories with me, everywhere I go, and I need these things. Sometimes it’s just one of those days.

As I was mentioning, though, I love watching the new additions to the chihuahua shop roll in, and when you see designer pet jewelry from Swarovsky and Diamante, and you see chihuahua collars from The Wizard of Oz coming in, and the awesome new , I get SO freaking excited about the possibilities of the worlds you can create with your dog and the life the two of you can share when you do!

Chihuahua clothing may be my passion, but dog accessories are definitely my fashion. Trendy Dog Collars For Your Fashionable Doggy

I’ve been looking at these trendy dog collars at the Chihuahua Clothes Shop lately, and I have to admit: I’m impressed. Normally, I’m not really big on flashy, frilly-laced jewelry for my dog. In fact, up until just a few years ago, I thought the whole notion of chihuahua clothing was a complete joke. I thought it was ridiculous, dressing dogs in little outfits made by us. Well I got two small dogs of my own–two chihuahuas–and that all changed in a hurry! It wasn’t even two weeks before my little doggies were running around in their K-9 haute couture chihuahua fashion outfits and their other adorable dog clothes for chihuahuas. A few weeks later, I had to splurge on personalized dog collars for them and complete the look for them, for all-out chihuahua effect. It was a little overboard for me, but the chihuahuas certainly looked the part!

Fashionable dog collars have always been a favorite dog accessory of mine. They way I see it, your dog’s collar is her most important piece of fashion. She wears it all the time, it holds her license and ID tags, and it’s like her jewelry. I’ve notice my little dogs get quite attached to their chihuahua collars: when I remove them, they lean forward and sniff it and look up at me and then at the collar, expectantly, just wanting and waiting for me to put it back on around their neck.

So I’ve been working on finding the best rhinestone collars in the online dog boutiques lately. I’ve seen some great lather strap dog collars that do the customizable crystal print letters like we do here at the Chihuahua Shop, but for the most part, I like what we have a lot more than the other styles I’m seeing out in most other stores.

I’ve always been a fan of those polka dot collars you can find at the local pet stores, that you can find in the section with all the nylon dog collars. I usually go with nylon for my foster dogs, simply because it’s a bit cheaper (and when you foster as many rescues as I do, that becomes an issue, let me tell you!) But when you got to step it up a little and you want to move into more of the designer dog collars for your chihuahua, then you’re almost always going to be dealing with trendy dog collars that have leather straps.

The leather dog collars tend to last longer than the nylon ones, and this isn’t probably going to be your biggest concern when you’re a chihuahua owner because even when they roughhouse, they’re not exactly bringing down the house with the amount of damage they can do to the house or to their chihuahua clothing, but if you’ve got a pug or a dachshund or a bit bigger dog than a chihuahua, you’ll appreciate the leather straps on their collars.

In addition to the collars, you can find designer dog leads and chihuahua harnesses that match in style and are usually sold together, which is perfect if you’re the fashion-tastic type who loves having things coordinated with your chihuahua accessories and dog apparel!

But to wrap this up, I have to say that right now, I’m most excited about the new Wizard of Oz Swarovski dog collars (pictured at the top of this article) that the Chihuahua Clothes Store just brought in!
