Doggie Boutique for Chihuahuas

When you own chihuahuas and you enjoy dressing them up in chihuahua clothes, you tend to visit a lot of doggie boutique shops. What I’ve been noticing lately is that these dog boutiques area really focusing on the banal and boring segment of dog supplies and would do so much better, I think, if they focused on selling the fun goods that people seem to love buying at the Chihuahua Shop and a few of the other chihuahua clothing store business I’ve been keeping tabs on.

I mean, I walk into these doggy boutique shops and what do I see? I see a miniature version of a major pet store: dog food, hair brushes, leashes and leads to fit every breed known to man, and even huge dog houses for bigger dogs. They have no focus. These doggie boutiques are trying to cater to everyone and, in doing so, they’re catering to no one. I walk into these dog clothing shops that, from their name and advertising on the outside of their store front, lead you to believe are going to be an entire store full of chihuahua clothes but are instead a small section of designer chihuahua clothes surrounded by many more generic pet supplies, again, these doggie boutiques trying to be copy the approach of the major doggie shops, just without the money to afford enough space to be one of those major pet store places.

And I think it’s a mistake. These doggie boutique shops have such an advantage over the huge dog stores because they are small and because they can choose to focus in on just one area of the dog clothing world. If you ask me, a little doggie clothing store that specializes and only sells the best small dog clothing is far more valuable than a store of the same size that is essentially trying to be a jack of all doggie trades. A small doggie boutique that focuses in on the realm of small dog clothing and sticks to selling those chihuahua clothes and yorkie outfits and Maltese costumes and shih tzu dresses, and very little else, will draw the crowds because they’ll become an authority on small doggie clothes over time and people will know them for being that way and as the place to go when you want to pick up some chihuahua clothes for your little dog.

Again, I think it’s far more valuable to the customer to have a niche chihuahua boutique that JUST sells chihuahua clothes and chihuahua accessories and things for chihuahuas than for that same person to have access to yet another pet store, but simply crammed into a smaller space and with less selection.

But that’s my opinion, and I can’t speak for all dog owners. But that is why I made the Chihuahua Shop into the kind of dog boutique that just focuses on small dog clothing for chihuahuas and the other small breeds out there. Clothes for Small Dogs Like Chihuahuas

When you live around dog lovers who probably have more clothes for small dogs than they do for themselves, you get into some interesting conversations about chihuahua clothes and other costumes and clothes for little dogs. Sometimes we simply discuss the new additions to the Chihuahua Shop, and other times it’s more a conversation about what our smaller dogs would dress us in if the tables were turned!–which, by the way, I really don’t care to think about too hard, haha.

Small dog clothing is everywhere in the dog world today, and it’s likely because these small dog outfits are so darn cute. You can literally click on over to the Chihuahua Clothes Shop, order up your favorite little outfit and clothes for yorkies, wait a few days, and be dressing your little puppy in that cute little dog outfit and making him look about 10x cuter than you’ve ever seen him, and all in the matter of a few days.

Clothing for small dogs isn’t even as expensive as it used to be. Before, you’d have to pay just about 50% more on most of the small dog apparel I see in the dog clothing stores today. But now, you can find cheap clothes for small dogs without much effort if you shop around the sale section of the Chihuahua Shop or the super, super cheap and discounted wholesale small dog clothing retailers online like the DogDug. And it’s nice because you no longer have to fork over and arm and two toes just to pick out a few snazzy new chihuahua outfits for your small chiwawa puppy. You can get him a few small dog sweaters or a couple of small dog coats to keep him warm in the cooler months of the year without having to stress over blowing your entire paycheck all in one chihuahua clothing shopping session, which is nice!

And the variety of clothes for small doggies that exists today far exceeds what was available before. Looking around at the various chihuahua boutiques, you’ll see dozens of different designer chihuahua dresses as well as discount dresses for small dogs you could hardly believe existed if you didn’t see them with your own two eyes.

And the shirts for smaller dogs like chihuahuas and Maltese pups you’ll find today, even in the major pet stores, are getting rather trendy and fashion-tastic! Clothing for small dogs has never been as stylish and funky as it is right now, and if you ask me, clothes for small dogs SHOULD be funky and freaky and cool like this. No longer do we have to settle for boring chihuahua attire or the lazy yorkie fashion that the designers were putting out years ago. Today, we have these awesome, imaginative Maltese clothes that rival Lady Gaga’s outfits! And that is saying a lot 🙂

The small chihuahua dog clothes the customers of the Chihuahua Shop reflect this sentiment as well: it’s the crazy, freaky fashion for small dogs that is selling out, over the more traditional, formal dog clothing today, and it has been this way ever since I started that store. The outfits for small dogs that people crave to dress their little dogs up in are the ones that stand out, catch your eye, and either shock you outright or make you explode with uncontrollable laughter for minutes on end. And for the sake of our chihuahuas and or little toy dogs of every breed, I think this is pretty cool because it means they are going to be getting more attention and affection from their owners!

Dog Boutiques That Sell Quality Chihuahua Clothes

In my travels as a chihuahua clothes enthusiast, I’ve come across many dog boutiques that sell small dog clothing that ranges from the designer pet fashion that costs thousands of dollars per outfit, to the bargain basement-type cheap chihuahua clothing shops that typically try to sell thinly woven, poorly made clothing for chihuahuas and yorkies and other small breeds that fall apart within a few weeks, in my experience.

At the Chihuahua Shop, I’ve worked to find a balance between these two types of small dogie boutique stores, and sell dog accessories that mimic the quality of the thousand-dollar outfits while costing a fraction of what they can run for. In other words, our chihuahua store sells designer dog clothes at a reasonable price.

Now, I know that “reasonable” is in the eye of the beholder and is largely determined by the size of said person’s bank account. I’ll be frank: if I were a billionaire and had more money than God, I don’t think I would mind spending $3000 on a Swarovski crystal studded chihuahua dress, or $1000 or a pair of chihuahua haute couture doggie booties for my little dogs. And I’m sure they wouldn’t mind wearing this kind of small dog clothing either! Dog fashion has always looked good on my little dogs, although–I know–I am a little biased 😉

Of course, most people can’t afford to drop that kind of money at a pet boutique on clothing for their little dogs, much less for themselves! So the dog supplies people buy for their chihuahua dogs at the Chihuahua Shop are small dog clothes and chihuahua accessories that typically run around $40 and $50 for a really nice chihuahua outfit or a pair of designer yorkie pants.

Maltese Clothes For The Fashionable White Fluffy Dog

If you’re the proud owner of a small dog like a Maltese, sooner or later you’re going to be an owner of small dog clothing. Of course, it’s always better if you can buy clothing for your specific breed of dog, so if you have a Maltese, you’re going to pick out Maltese clothes, if you have chihuahua, you’ll pick up chihuahua clothing, and so on!

Little fluffy white Maltese dogs look particularly adorable in their little sweaters and shirts, and of course, if you’re giving your Maltese a summer cut, and you’re inside in an air conditioned room, these little dogs can get pretty cold after a while of just hanging out and chillin’. I know that some people think that it’s weird to dress up your dog in clothing. They remark that it’s “wrong” and it’s borderline animal abuse, but the fact is that these clothes help your little dog stay more comfortable, they dress up your dog, and yes, they do make your dog even more cute. Don’t get me wrong: I actually think it is kind of weird. I wasn’t a huge fan of chihuahua clothes or anything like it just a few years ago, but after a little time of owning a small dog, I definitely came around and now I love it. And so do my dogs: my chihuahuas and my other little foster dogs actually come running over to me when I pick up their chihuahua clothes so I can put it on them! And as I said, they seem to really like it, provided it’s comfortable and not itchy or bothering them because it’s too tight for their body 😉

And there’s nothing to say there’s anything wrong with having your dog look even more cute, I mean I know that small Maltese dogs are already pretty darn adorable, but when you dress them up in clothing, it just takes that natural cuteness and amps it up and multiplies it by about a factor of ten. It’s a little hard to imagine Maltese dogs getting any cuter than they already are with their little furry faces and that white fluff, but believe me: when you have Maltese clothing on them, the sky is the limit for what you can do with them fashion-wise with bows and ties and that whole thing!

And it’s a whole lot of fun, especially with kids (and…err… the young at heart!) who like to make-believe and role play. These little clothes allows them to get into the character, into the role and really imagine and fantasize story lines even better, letting them play in the land of fantasy, which is a lot of fun!

And of course if you have other dog owner friends, nothing will bond you faster to someone else who is into dog clothing than dressing your own Maltese in her Maltese clothes; it’s an endless conversation piece–almost to an insane degree!

But yeah, a couple of years ago, I started dressing up my Maltese rescue that I was fostering in little doggy clothing, and it was actually really useful: we had a couple of people looking for a dog to adopt, and they came, then went, and then they didn’t come back. Well we started dressing our little Maltese in clothing, we took new pictures of her and posted them up on Dogster, and almost immediately she had a lot of emails coming in and was adopted within a week through a great rescue group! It was pretty magical …it seems that with dogs, people fall in love through their eyes, and then that’s pretty much what seals the deal! Some would say that’s a sad fact, but it is what it is, so I say we use that to these little guys’ advantage 🙂

The Chihuahua Shop: How It Started, and Why

I want to give you a short, nutshell version of the story of why I started the Chihuahua Shop with all the small dog clothing it has today. So here it is, in all it’s full love-hate glory, and it really all begins with me moving in with a girlfriend years ago and, in doing so, becoming a “joint owner” and foster of two little chihuahuas.

Fast forward to today, when I’ve now owned chihuahuas for a number of years and have some experience taking care of these little cutie pies. I’ve always been one to pamper my pooches and I love buying chihuahua clothes for my dogs, but a little while ago, I got super fed up with the deceptive marketing of the different dog clothing stores out there that are selling clothes for chihuahuas, and I finally decided to do something about it.

I got tired of looking at the pictures in the online dog clothing boutiques, getting excited, buying the dog clothes I wanted, and then having them show up late, and the chihuahua clothes being entirely something other than what I expected them to be, and the shirts and sweaters and a lot of the advertised pet costumes being far lower quality than what was advertised. In short, I got tired of being disappointed with small dog vendors online. So I decided to start my own chihuahua store and focus in on just clothing for chihuahuas and similarly small breeds and create a store that sells the kind of small dog clothing that I would want to buy. And I wanted there to be a store selling these clothes that actually has good customer service, that gets back to you promptly when you have a question and that delivers their clothes to you–the customer–on time, every time, and puts you first. Is that too much to ask for these days?! I don’t think it is, and so that’s really why I started my online chihuahua clothes shop.

Now, is the chihuahua shop for everyone? No, it isn’t. Some people like different kinds of clothing for their dogs, like the ultra luxury (and insanely priced) clothing for their little dogs that cost up into the thousands of dollars range, and that’s really not the focus of my store. Personally, I’m into chihuahua outfits that fit well, that are made from high quality materials, and that actually look like the pictures on store’s site, and that don’t leave you broke and selling your clothes off your own back just so you can clothe your little chi (wouldn’t that be a sweet story, though 🙂 )

At my chihuahua store, I try to not just include the standard variety of dog sweaters and shirts and coats that you’ll find in most chihuahua boutiques, but also some very high quality chihuahua accessories like gorgeous Swarovski crystal-studded dog necklaces and other similarly fine dog jewelry. I’m very much into dog bling, so I do my best to find the latest and greatest brand of customizable puppy collars (pictured left) that you can order with your own little dog’s name on in rhinestones and jewels, in your color of choice, so you can beautify and pamper your chiwawa in the luxurious lifestyle she deserves! The aim of all this, of course, is to make your little chihuahua the talk of the town with her unique and exquisite small dog jewelry that will rival most people’s, frankly 🙂

But of course, you can’t really have a chihuahua clothes shop without also including the clothes! So I’m constantly working away to find the best dog jumpers for little doggies and little matching hats for dogs to go with them, so you can give your pooch a complete mini-makeover and really indulge.

And for when the rainy season hits or you’re living in a cooler part of the planet right now, we’re also looking out for you there too, and we have the latest dog raincoats and other types of coats for dogs on our shelves, for helping your dog stay warm on those walks when the weather isn’t on its best behavior, along with a very stylish and practical selection of small dog clothing for both boy and girl chihuahua dogs!

It’s actually kind of insane how many quality small dog products and how much quality small dog apparel is at the Chihuahua Shop right now. I’m working tirelessly to find the best chihuahua accessories on the market right now, like the latest in dog fashionista dog carriers, for example. And I only say it’s insane because of how much stuff for long hair and apple head and deer head chihuahuas (and really: all the other small breeds that are super small like these guys) that I see in the store right now: I’m only interested in stocking super high quality stuff and if it isn’t good, I’m not putting it out there, the way that some chihuahua stores do. It’s wild how much quality effort has been put into make these little dogs cute and adorable and comfortable. These little chihuahuas have got it made–I’m telling you!
